Enjoy the fascination of golf on the outskirts of Nürnberg, in the middle of the forest
According to one of the Founding Fathers of this Golf Club, “our delights and joy about creating this facility with considerable amounts of effort is purely beyond material values.”
In the beginning there was only a bold vision and excitement about the Golf sport. In the last fifty years of our club history the members have created one of the most beautiful golf facilities of Northern Bavaria with thanks to many supporters from the clubs own ranks as well as those who have taken their own initiative to shape this course.
Nine businessmen came together to found this golf club in 1960. The forest behind the airport that was assigned to them did not seem attractive at first. Today members and guests appreciate the almost unique central position of the golf facility as well as the low number of players on the course.
Designed by the famous golf-architect Bernhard von Limburger, the Reichswald is considered as a challenging golf course. The fairways are surrounded by the typical Nuremberg “Steckalaswald” (pine forest) and, as a first obstacle, you will find moorland herb and pine bushes in front of the tee boxes. Every hole has his own character, whether there is a water hazard, bunker or narrow driving-pathway: if you want to play scratch golf, you need to trust in your game and play wisely.
In 1988 the Munich golf-architect Thomas Himmel extended the golf course. Some bunkers were added and a few yellow tee boxes repositioned.
Today our golf club has 881 members. As you can see among our members, golf is a generational-spanning sport. Some families join us in third or fourth generation and sometimes grandparents, daughters/sons and grandchildren play together in a flight.
